Just 57 miles from our Blue Ridge Parkway Cabins is Biltmore House, the 250-room family home of George and Edith Vanderbilt. Built in the late nineteenth century, this breathtaking mansion houses such treasures as original art painted by greats like Renoir, a chess set that belonged to the legendary Napoleon Bonaparte, and a massive library filled with 10,000 books. Not only are the contents of Biltmore Estate Asheville astounding, but Biltmore House is a masterpiece in and of itself. With 70-foot ceilings, 65 fireplaces, an indoor pool, and its very own bowling alley, Biltmore Estate Asheville is as impressive now as it was when it was first built over 100 years ago. The gardens are yet another amazing aspect of Biltmore Estate Asheville. With formal and informal gardens containing over 250 different varieties of roses, Biltmore Estate Asheville’s staff has worked to preserve the authenticity of the gardens, which were originally designed by Frederick Law Olmstead. Many choose to tour Biltmore Estate Asheville independently, but guided tours can be arranged.

Since Biltmore Estate Asheville was open on Christmas Eve of 1895, Christmas is a special time at Biltmore. If you happen to be visiting our Western North Carolina Cabin Rentals around Christmastime, you might want to take some time out of your ski vacation to partake in the festivities that go on each year at Biltmore Estate Asheville. The staff at Biltmore Estate Asheville goes all out during the Christmas season. The sprawling estate is draped in thousands of tiny lights, a 35-foot Fraser Fir from the mountains that surround our Linville Gorge Lodging occupies the Banquet Hall, choirs sing European carols, vintage ballroom dancers take to the dance floors, and performers read Christmas stories to all who care to listen. Candlelight Christmas tours at Biltmore are a great way to spend an evening of our stay at our Rental Cabins Western North Carolina.

Another popular attraction at Biltmore Estate Asheville is the winery.  Approximately one million visitors tour Biltmore Estate Asheville’s winery each year, making it the most visited winery in the United States. The vineyards were established in 1971 by Vanderbilt’s grandson, who felt that vineyards were in keeping with Vanderbilt’s original intentions for Biltmore Estate Asheville. The winery came soon after, in 1985. Visitors to the winery will have the opportunity get up close and personal with the process by which Biltmore Estate Asheville makes its increasingly popular wines. Guests will be able to view the fermentation and bottling rooms and the cellar, participate in special food and wine events, and taste wines that have been produced and bottled right on the grounds of Biltmore Estate.
